Facilities and palliative care

At Mount Carmel we strongly believe in providing the Care Home End of Life Support Service (CHESS) for all our residents that live out their days with us. If your relative comes to us with a prognosis that they’re reaching the end of their life, we work with them to put an advanced care plan into play. This involves discussing the end of life, what preferences and wishes they have and how we can help fulfil these. We always do our utmost to ensure our residents have a calm and comfortable time.

A strong support service

Due to the nature of our home, we have a very strong support system in place and can fast track many services for your family member if they need. Should your relative need a district nurse or night sitter, for example; we can put this into action within 24 hours.

Day to day care

We strongly believe in making your relative’s time at Mount Carmel as fulfilling, enjoyable and active as possible. Our in-house activities co-coordinator is qualified occupational therapist and arranges daily activities for everyone to enjoy. Every day we put into play an activity planner aimed to stimulate and interest everyone, which is of course flexible around our resident’s requirements. Our O.T also organises for entertainment in the home, like singers or theatre groups coming in to perform as well as a weekly visit from a local hairdresser. One-to-one support is also available, with trips to the local shopping centre for coffee or elevenses and other enjoyable trips out.
